Struggling Italian car giant, Fiat, appears to have hit on a novel ‘headline-grabber’ as it prepares to launch it’s new 500L – the MPV vehicle it hopes will revive its European fortunes.
How about this? The car will come with the option of a ‘coffee experience kit’ which consists of a set of coffee cups, a spoon/ sugar holder and – wait for it – your own in-built expresso machine!
The pod-based device – developed by Italian coffee giants Lavazza – is believed to be the first accessory of its kind offered by any manufacturer and is a neat, cable-free installation which clips directly into the power source between the seats.
Though the Fiat 500L, which was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, has garnered positive reviews on the whole, it’s undoubtedly the ‘coffee experience kit’ which has grabbed the imagination and, already, there are suggestions that other manufacturers will follow suit and offer similar options in the future.
Just five years ago, sales of the little 500 hatch were credited for pulling Fiat back from a financial abyss and, though things aren’t quite as bad this time around, the manufacturer will be hoping for a similar result when the 500L hits European showrooms next spring. No Comments
